George Blessios has had his own private practice with Surgical Consulting, PLLC since 2013, and is the Director of Mercy Hospital Dialysis Access Center where he provides vascular access for dialysis patients. He is board certified in the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, and the American Board of Surgery. 


He earned his MD and his PhD at National University of Athens, Greece. Dr. Blessios did his Clinical Fellowship in Transplantation and Hepatobiliary Surgery at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA. His residency in General Surgery was held at SUNY at Syracuse and Beth Israel Medical Center at Mount Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. Dr. Blessios serviced many years as director of the Kidney/Pancreas Transplant at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, NY. Along with these accomplishments he holds Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at SUNY at Buffalo since September 2003. 


​Dr. Blessios is a member of the American Society of Transplantation, Vascular Access Society of the Americans, Fellow American College of Surgeons since 2003, Medical Society of New York since 2004, Medical Society of the County of Erie since 2004, New York Chapter of the American College of Surgeons since 2005, WNY Chapter of the American College of Surgeons since 2004, and the Syracuse medical alumni. Dr. Blessios also held positions in community services with UNOS Kidney/Pancreas Transplantation committee, Region 9 Representative, and UNYTS Organ Advisory Committee. He has provided multiple publications, journals and scientific meetings.
